15th – 17th February: All Shook Up!
Achill Musical & Dramatic Society presents a musical based on the music of Elvis Presley. Venue: Colaiste Acla, Dooega. Tickets available locally. Shows: Thurs 15, 8pm; Fri 16th, 8pm; Sat 17th, 2.30pm (matinee) & 8pm. facebook page.
16th – 18th February: Yoga Retreat
Pure Magic hosts a weekend yoga retreat.
9th – 11th March: Mayo Stages Rally
A weekend of rally car racing in the spectacular, and challenging, landscape of Achill. See Mayo Motorsport Club website.
17th March: St. Patrick’s Day
A weekend of festivities (17th falls on a Saturday; Monday 19th is a Bank Holiday) for Ireland’s National Day. Follow Achill’s famous pipe bands on their traditional parades.
18th March: St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Parade at Achill Sound.
24th March: Western Greenway Marathon
Inaugural running event on the Great Western Greenway from Westport to Achill. Three distances (Half, Full Marathon, and Ultra) plus relay option, with the Ultra ending at Achill. Full details & booking.

The annual Scoil Acla summer school is hugely popular, offering tuition in traditional music to students of all levels as well as writer’s workshops, a painters school, readings, exhibitions, concerts and more.
