Festival of events and entertainment in and around the village of Dooega.
30th July – 1st August: Féile Inis Bigil (Inishbiggle Festival)
Festival of events and entertainment on the island of Inishbiggle.
5th – 7th August: Currane Sea Angling Festival
Shore and boat angling competitions, including children’s boat angling.
13th – 14th August: Bunnacurry Weekend
Music, food, raffle, story telling, craft making, traditional music.
13th August: Achill’s Most Eligible Bachelor
Venue: Ostan Oilean Acla, Achill Sound. 9.30pm. Entry €10.
19th July: Lecture: Experimental Archaeology: Making, Understanding, Story-telling
Part of Achill Archaeological Field School’s series of Evening Lectures. Dr. Aidan O’Sullivan, Department of Archaeology, University College, Dublin, presents. 8pm, Folklife Centre, Dooagh. Entry €10.
20th August: Dooagh Day Festival
Village Festival – Reviving old traditions. Traditional Currach Racing, Exhibition, Live Music, Fresh Local Seafood, Duck Race, Sheepdog Handling Skills, Kids Zone & Dooagh Pipe Band Live. (Rescheduled from July). Full details on Dooagh Day facebook page.
12th – 21st August: Féiele Chill Damhnait

20th – 26th August: Achill Heritage Week
Highlights include: traditional fair day; guided walks; seaweed gathering; sheep shearing demonstrations; children’s drawing comptition; spinning and weaving demonstration; photographic display and memorabilia display; traditional music; replice of an old Irish cottage; and more. Saturday 10th September: Tour de Achill
Achill Wheelers Cycling Club will host a ‘Tour de Achill’ leisure cycling event on Saturday 10th Sept 2016 starting in Achill Sound at 10am. There will be three distances 40km; 60km and 110km. Register Online.
23rd – 26th September: Pure Magic “Battle for the Lakes”
