Féile na mBoillaí / Bills Rock Festival, 23rd – 25th June 2017
Friday 23rd June
7.30pm: Blessing of the first bench of Amhrám na mBoillaí trail, followed by a walk to the eight other benches and reading of each verse.
7.30pm: Colouring competition / Art with Kate @ The Boat House
8.00pm: Refreshments served in The Fisherman Cottage – all welcome
9.30pm: The lighting of St. John’s Bonfire
Saturday 24th June
9.45am: Donnacha Rúa Trip to The Bills: Departure from Dooega Beach for ferry trip to Bills Rock with Clare Island Ferry Company. This new and exciting route is a planned excursion and promises to showcase spectacular landscape and scenery as it takes in Bills Rock as well as the beautiful coastline around Achill Head and Keem Bay. On its return trip, passengers will have the opportunity to view Achill’s famous Cathedral Cliffs and the rugged coastline of the famous Wild Atlantic Way before it docks again at Cloughmore Pier. Passengers will be transported back to the festival hub at Dooega Beach for complimentary lunch. Tickets cost €28 for this four-hour excursion and advance booking is highly recommended. Tickets available on eventbrite or through Achill Tourism. Numbers are very limited. **Over 18s only**
11.00am: “Walk in Johnny Rúa Footsteps” to Cnapogaí Arda: Guided walk with the highly experienced and knowledgeable Gerard Mangan. Gerard will bring participants to Dooega Head, retracing the footsteps of Johnny from the local village of Dooega who made that journey most days so many years ago. Watch the ferry pass out along the point on the Donnacha Rúa trip to Bills Rock whilst Gerard shares his knowledge of the local surroundings and the history of Bills Rock – Free Entry all welcome. Registration at 10.45am at The Boathouse.
12 noon: Join us on Dooega Beach for an action-packed afternoon of fun and entertainment. Enjoy the beautiful surroundings of this Blue Flag beach and all it has to offer.
12 – 3pm: Give It A Go: Back by popular demand, “Give It A Go” featuring Achill’s finest service providers. Sessions include: 1hr kayaking lesson with fully-qualified instructor; Stand Up Paddle Boarding “Pure Magic style”; bio energy sessions; pony trekking; guided walks. Experience the amazing activities that Achill has to offer at a fraction of the cost. Why not sample all our activities on the day and avail of expert advice from highly qualified instructors?

2pm: Guided Walk of the Slí Grainne Uaile with Local Guide. Meet in car park of Patten’s Public House (Dereens). Please wear suitable footwear and clothing. Free event – all welcome.
