The panel of judges included professional photography Eamonn McCarthy as well as two keen amateur photographers and Achill residents, Dr. Edward King and Tom Honeyman. About the Achill 2012 Calendar Photography Competition
The St. Colman's 'Achill Calendar Photography Competition' is now a popular annual event and the winners and runners-up are all represented in this calendar.

With a first prize of €500 and other attractive prizes the competition has drawn a large number of entries, from all over Ireland and abroad, and of course many from residents on Achill Island itself. The competition is only open to amateur photographers.

The standard as usual was very high and presented a difficult task for the panel of judges: Dr. Edward King and Tom Honeyman, both residents of Achill and keen amateur photographers, and Eamonn McCarthy, professional photographer based in Kiltimagh. They did a splendid job and are deserving of thanks and appreciation for their dedication to the task.

The winning photograph, taken by Ronan Halpin, is on the cover of this calendar and also represents January.
