As part of the Home to Mayo festival, Achill Island hosts a number of walks with local guides, offering a range of locations and difficulty levels. Your guide will introduce you to the rich heritage and cultural history of Achill’s spectacular landscape.
Saturday 18th May

Slí Gráinne Mhaol Guided Hike
A local guide will lead a hike on this 6.7km looped trail in hills in the south-east corner of Achill Island. Enjoy local history and folklore along with spectacular views of Clew Bay, Clare Island, Achill and north to Belmullet. This approximately 2.5 – 3 hour hike is rated moderately strenuous. Ticket includes refreshments after the walk. Starts 10am.
Sunday 19th May

Dooagh Loop Walk Guided Ecology Walk
Local guides will lead a family-friendly walk on this gentle 4km looped trail in the area of Dooagh. As well as local history and folklore, the guides will focus on nature, biodiversity and conservation. Walk starts at the car park at Gielty’s Bar & Restaurant, Keelwest, 10am.
