12th – 20th October: Talking Walls Festival
Annual event celebrating Achill’s history, culture and folklore. See Talking Walls Festival 2019 or for more details.

25th – 28th October: Achill International Harp Festival
Annual festival celebrating the harp. See Achill International Harp Festival for more details.

27th October: Flavours of Achill

17th November: Achill Lifeboat RNLI Fish Supper
Fundraiser for Achill RNLI, to be held at Óstán Oileán Acla. Music on the night with raffle prize of a painting by Alexander Van Tuyll. Tickets €15. Contact Mary on 087 622 9104.

31st December: New Year’s Eve
Watch the last sunset of 2019 and welcome the New Year with Achill pipe bands marching at midnight in Dooagh, Pollagh and Keel.

January 2020

1st January: New Year’s Day Swim
Join hundreds of hardy bathers at Silver Strand beach in Dugort for the annual dip, in aid of RNLI Achill Lifeboat. 1pm.

March 2020

17th March: St. Patrick’s Day
Follow Achill pipe bands on their traditional marches.

April 2020

13th April: Easter Monday
Bank Holiday.

May 2020

4th May: May Day
Bank Holiday.

1st – 4th May: Heinrich Boll Memorial Weekend
Annual arts weekend. Details to follow.

9th – 10th May: Mayo Fleadh
Achill hosts the 2020 Mayo Fleadh Cheoil.

June 2020

1st June: June Bank Holiday
Bank Holiday.

July 2020

4th July: Achill Half Marathon & 10K
Award-winning half marathon and 10K run on the most scenic route in Ireland. Registration is open. See Achill Half Marathon for more details.

26th July: Scoil Acla
Annual summer school for Irish music, dancing, arts & culture. See for details. Booking from March.

26th July: St. Colman’s Garden Fete
Annual garden fete at St. Colman’s, Pollagh. Family fun and entertainment, stalls, games, fresh seafood and boxty, plus monster Wheel of Fortune.

Battle for the Lake
