September 2022

3rd September: Tour de Achill
Annual cycling event with choice of three routes around Achill. Further details via facebook event page.

22nd September: Coffee Morning
The Achill Experience in Keel hosts a coffee morning in aid of Mayo Roscommon Hospice, as part of the Bewley’s Big Coffee Morning event. 10am – 2pm.

23rd September: Culture Night
An evening of song, music and circus performance. Free event but booking necessary at EventBrite.

24th September: Equinox Festival
Welcome Autumn with Twilight Circus at the Valley House Bar & Restaurant. Free event but booking required via EventBrite.

25th September: Straw Bale Theatre
A day of circus shenanigans and musical mayhem, opposite Masterson’s Bar in Dugort. Free event.

30th September – 2nd October: Battle for the Lake Achill Island
Annual kitesurfing and music festival at Keel Lake. More details.

30th September – 2nd October: Mayo Mayhem
Windsurfing wave sailing competition. More details.


October 2022

25th – 28th October – Achill International Harp Festival
Annual festival celebrating this iconic Irish instrument. 2022 details to be confirmed.

Public Holiday.


November 2022

4th – 6th November: Mayo Dark Sky Festival

December 2022

31st December: New Year’s Eve
Ring in the New Year with Achill’s pipe bands in their traditional parades at midnight.


January 2023

1st January: New Year’s Day Swim
Start 2023 with a bracing dip in Achill’s Atlantic waters. Traditional New Year’s Day swim at Silver Strand beach, Dugort, 1pm. Collection for Achill RNLI Lifeboat.


February 2023

6th February – Imbolc (St. Brigid’s Day)
Ireland’s new Public Holiday, held of the first Monday in February, to celebrate the Celtic new year.


March 2023

17th March – St. Patrick’s Day (Public Holiday)
Ireland’s national day falls on a Friday in 2023, perfect for a long weekend. Celebrate with Achill’s traditional pipe band parades.


April 2023

10th April – Easter Monday (Public Holiday)
Easter Monday is a Public Holiday in Ireland.


May 2023

1st May – Early May Bank Holiday (Public Holiday)
May Day Public Holiday.


June 2023

5th June – June Bank Holiday (Public Holiday)

1st July – Achill Half Marathon & 10K
Annual half marathon and 10K race in Keel. Details on achillmarathon.com
