Ireland’s new Public Holiday, held of the first Monday in February, to celebrate the Celtic new year.

March 2023

17th March: St. Patrick’s Day (Public Holiday)
Ireland’s national day falls on a Friday in 2023, perfect for a long weekend. Celebrate with Achill’s traditional pipe band parades.

18th March: St. Patrick’s Day Parade
Parade at Achill Sound, 1pm.

24th – 25th March: Robert Henri, and the children of Achill Island 1913-1928
Festival celebrating American artist Robert Henri who worked on Achill from 1913 to 1928. More details.

April 2023

May 2023

11th – 13th May – Achill Island International Film Festival

2nd September – Tour de Achill
Annual cycling event on Achill Island and the Currane Peninsula. Three routes. More details.

29th September to 1st October – Battle for the Lake
Annual kitesurfing and music festival centred on Keel Lake. Details TBC.
