Lets Bring Achill To You logo

As the COVID-19 restrictions mean that people living outside of Achill are unable to travel to come to us, we’re going to bring a little bit of Achill to you. Our team is going out and about, armed with cameras, exploring some of Achill’s tracks and trails. Sit back and enjoy Achill from the safety of your screen; hopefully we can inspire you to visit when its safe to travel again.

Doogort Loop Walk

A gentle 9km walk starting and ending at the historic Slievemore Hotel in the heart of The Colony, Dugort. The trail passes the Heinrich Boll cottage, rises to a vantage point with panoramic views to Keel in the south around to Blacksod Bay and Belmullet in the north, and continues on to pass the Golden Strand and Silver Strand beaches. It is Walk F in our set of Achill Hillwalking Guides.

Currane Loop Walk

This 10km walk on the beautiful Currane Peninsula is Walk M in our set of Achill Hillwalking Guides. It offers views across to the south-eastern shore of Achill Island, including Granuaille’s castle and the RNLI lifeboat station, and further south to the historic island of Achillbeg and across Clew Bay to Clare Island.

Dooagh to Annagh

We followed part of the Dooagh Loop Walk (Walk B) and then continued on to the remote beauty spot of Annagh, which includes Ireland’s lowest corrie lake along with a deserted village and unspoiled sandy beach.
