Description
Published in 2010 to mark the centenary of Saula National School, this 106 page magazine style book celebrates both the school and its role at the heart of the community. This large (A4 size) book includes an extensive collection photographs from down the years, stories and articles, and even registers of boys and girls from 1873 to 1936. Particularly poignant are the interviews with former pupils, some going as far back as 1920.
From the Principal’s message:
“I hope you enjoy our book to celebrate the school’s centenary. The school opened on May Day 1910. Teachers and pupils moved from the old school, the remains of which can still be seen nearby.
Many thanks to all those who were interviewed over the past few months and shared their memories of the school and village with us. They brought past events to life and helped this generation to understand the past. Thanks to all who contributed photographs and articles.”
