Description

The Kathleen Kilbane Story by Allan C. Worthy (author), edited by Dominic Kennedy.

Published in July 2018, this 50 page paperbook is an abridged form of the book Kathleen Kilbane: The Little Saint of Achill Island.

From the back cover:

Sleep, darling Kathleen in God’s sheltered garden
We Lay thee, Little flower!
Lifting once more our weary earthly burden
Till comes the blessed hour
When death, the healer bounteous and mild
Shall give to us once more our fairest child.

The above poem was written by Brother Anselm Conway who came to know orphaned Kathleen Kilbane in a TB sanatorium in Ballinrobe, Co Mayo in 1940’s Ireland.

Kathleen’s story is one of the triumph of faith and love over suffering. In her brief 14 years of life Kathleen lived out the Gospel in an exemplary way. Her love for God and others, her devotion to prayer and the sacraments and particularly her devotion to the Mother of God were remarkable. She continues to inspire today.

This book is an abridged form of the book Kathleen Kilbane: The Little Saint of Achill Island. This book follows Kathleen’s life from her birthplace in Perth, Scotland, to her final days in County Mayo, Ireland. This shorter work is an ideal way to come to know the heart of the inspiring Scots/Irish girl Kathleen Kilbane.
