Trailer Released for Banshees of Inisherin Movie

The official poster and trailer have been released for the forthcoming movie ‘The Banshees of Inisherin’, which was filmed on location here on Achill Island and on Inishmore, one of the Aran Islands.

Written and directed by Martin McDonagh, the film reunites actors Brendan Gleeson and Colin Farrell after their hugely entertainining pairing in McDonagh’s 2008 movie ‘In Bruges’. It also stars Barry Keoghan, who appeared with Farrell in the 2017 movie ‘The Killing of a Sacred Deer’. The Irish cast also includes Kerry Condon, Pat Shortt, Gary Lydon and Sheila Flitton.

Filming for the Banshees movie on Achill Island took place in September 2021, with the island accommodating a large film crew and providing extras for crowd scenes. The locations used include Cloughmore on the Atlantic Drive, Purteen Harbour, Keem Bay, Corrymore Lake and St. Thomas’ Church in Dugort.

The poster features Gleeson and Farrell standing on Keem Beach, looking across to the Minaun Cliffs.

This highly anticipated film – over 5m views of the trailer within four days of its release on YouTube – will premiere at the Venice Film Festival in September 2022, and also feature at the Toronto Film Festival before its general release in cinemas on 21st October.
