Exciting Line-up for Battle for the Lake Achill Island

The line-up for the 2022 Battle for the Lake Achill Island event just gets better! After a Covid enforced two year hiatus, the popular watersports and music festival returns to Achill from Friday 30th September to Sunday 2nd October.

The watersports on display include kitesurfing, windsurfing and stand up paddleboarding. Other events planned for the outdoor activities areas at Keel lake and Keel beach include surfing lessons, giant kites flying, beach volleyball and yoga. This year the evening entertainment moves to the Valley House where there will be food and live music.

One highlight of this year’s event is the appearance of watersports legend Mitu Monteiro. Kiteboard Pro World Tour champion in 2008, and vice-champion in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2019, Mitu is renowned across the globe as one of the world’s leading kitesurf professionals. He will be conducting a master class in Achill as well as a special evening event.

The music line-up for the night-time entertainment at The Valley House is getting better all the time! The list includes live performances from: Jiggy, Aindrias de Staic & The Latchikos, Galway Street Club, Slí na Croí, Attention BéBé, Beef Supreme, Kiruu, Backroad Smokers Club, Árd Eiscir Céilí Band, Mine Road, Will Softly, Emileo, Graham Sweeney, Des Cafferkey, The Swifty Show, Aidan Breslin and DJ Siobh C.
